Making a Difference and Being a Force for Good
Ian Macleod Distillers (IMD) is a family-owned business with a passion for crafting beautiful spirits. Its portfolio of brands includes Edinburgh Gin, and the Glengoyne, King Robert II, Rosebank, Sheepdip, Smokehead, Tamdhu and White Cask whiskies.
For several years it has been committed to fostering a number of environmental initiatives in order to achieve its goal of being net zero; initiatives like reducing carbon emissions, promoting a circular economy, protecting and preserving water, improving biodiversity, promoting green tourism, and supporting its communities.
This month it has just released its first report on its Environmental Social Governance which, in the words of Leonard Russell IMD’s owner and CEO, is “a key part of our journey to decarbonise the business and our aims towards net zero”.
Sedley Place was invited to design the report, working with the ESG team at IMD and Dr Nigel Davies at the Maltdoctor. The resulting 40-page report is a detailed summary of IMD’s strategy, and its pledge, governance structure, targets, performance to date, and three areas of focus. The report also includes case studies for three of its brands: Glengoyne, Tamdhu and Edinburgh Gin.
Our design employs IMD’s visual identity standards and uses text, images and graphics to make a detailed and technical subject interesting and engaging. Particular attention has been paid to giving each of the sections of the report clarity and a change of pace, to maintain readers’ interest throughout.
Two versions of the report were produced: the full forty-page report and a seven-page summary. The former has been circulated to journalists and interested industry bodies and the latter to staff. The report can now be downloaded from IMD’s website (https://www.ianmacleod.com/esg).
